Nuno Simões

Sustainable management of coastal areas

Dr. Nuno Simões is a marine biologist with a particular interest in field studies in coral reefs, the coastal areas of the Gulf of Mexico and cenotes of the Yucatán Peninsula, his passion for describing the richness and diversity of Yucatán. led to forming the BDMY group.

He has worked on projects such as the GEF Socotra Island Biodiversity Project, Yemen, on several research projects in Mozambique, Venezuela and Portugal.

He currently works at the Multidisciplinary Teaching and Research Unit (UMDI-Sisal) of the Faculty of Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Yucatán, Mexico, since 2002.
