Ecotoxicology and analysis of contaminants

Marita is a PhD student at the Chemistry Unit in Sisal within the Postgraduate Course in Marine Sciences and Limnology at UNAM. She obtained a degree in Biochemical Engineering in 2015 from ITMerida and a Master of Science in 2018 from UNAM.

She has worked with biochemical analyzes in mollusks and onion roots, genetic biomarkers of contamination by estrogenic compounds, oxidants and heavy metals in fish, and environmental monitoring in cenotes; analysis of volatile compounds, hydrocarbons, pesticides, caffeine and nutrients in water; cultivation of microalgae as live food or for lipid determination and has knowledge in cloning plant fragments.

She has taught classes at the high school level, demonstrating his pleasure in motivating students to get closer to science.
