Fernando Enseñat

Specialist in tourist use of cenotes and archaeological zones

Doctor in Sustainable Tourism Development from the University of Quintana Roo, Mexico and Master in Tourism Management and Planning from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM), Canada.

Graduate in Tourism Business Administration from the Technological Institute of Mérida. He is currently a full-time Professor-researcher in the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism at the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY).

His research interests focus on the tourist use of cenotes and archaeological zones, the impacts that excess visitors generate on these sites and the strategies used to mitigate them. He is currently working on measuring the tourist carrying capacity in cenotes through social indicators such as the perception of congestion, and biophysical indicators such as fecal coliforms. He has published numerous articles in magazines such as Journal of Heritage Tourism, Journal of Ecotourism, Cuadernos de Turismo and PASOS.
