Support may be provided in the following modalities:
I. Completion of undergraduate studies: To support, through participation in the project, the completion of undergraduate studies of participating students (UNAM or external). The scholarships will be assigned for periods of up to six months (corresponding to the school semester), extendable up to a total of twelve months.
II. Undergraduate students graduation: To support, through participation in the project, the graduation of undergraduate students (UNAM or external), particularly those whose degree option is by:
– Research activity.
– Elaboration of thesis.
– Activities that require a tutor.
The scholarships will be assigned for periods of up to six months (corresponding to the school semester), extendable up to a total of twelve months; starting from the month corresponding to the official registration of the degree modality.
Requirements to apply for a scholarship
- Be formally enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program.
- In the case of degree scholarships, no more than twelve months have elapsed since the completion of their studies.
- Have a minimum overall grade point average of 8.0 in your current studies.
- For scholarships for completion of studies, have approved at least 75% of credits of the corresponding study plan; and less than 100% of total credits.
- Do not have a scholarship from any other institution, public or private (degree scholarship, scholarship linkage, social service scholarship, etc.).
In case of having a scholarship, the DGAPA must be notified; failure to comply with this requirement will be cause for loss or suspension of the PAPIIT scholarship.
In the case of theses, these must be directly related to the project’s topic.
Documents to be attached to the application:
a) Proof of the last enrollment issued by the School Services Department of the corresponding entity.
b) Official proof that includes average and percentage of progress in your studies (not older than 30 days).
c) In the case of a degree scholarship, current registration of the chosen degree option, including the name of the tutor or degree director; it is important to note that the application period must include the period of validity of the registration, i.e., it cannot be prior to the month of official acceptance of the degree option and, if applicable, not later than the end of its validity.
d) Income statement, generated by the system.
e) Copy of your official identification.
In the case of undergraduate students from outside UNAM:
a) The student must comply with the requirements indicated above, as the case may be.
b) There must be a collaboration agreement in force between UNAM and the institution of origin.
c) Scholarships for the completion of studies will be granted within the period of time that the proof of enrollment supports.
d) The thesis must be carried out under the direction of one of the participants of the project.
The National Council of Humanity, Science and Technology supports the training of higher education human resources through scholarships in both national and international institutions.
The Mexican Academy of Sciences grants scholarships within the framework of the “Summer Program for Scientific Research” to undergraduate students in different areas of knowledge and through this program you can spend 7 weeks during the months of July and August at PIECEMO (link).
The Inter-institutional Program for the Strengthening of Research and Postgraduate Studies in the Pacific, commonly known as the Dolphin Program, aims to strengthen collaboration between Higher Education Institutions and Research Centers that are members of the Program, as is the case of PIECEMO, through the mobility of professors-researchers, students and the dissemination of scientific and technological products.
The academic research stays of this program are carried out within the framework of the Pacific Summer of Scientific and Technological Research.
The Newton Fund is part of the United Kingdom’s Official Development Assistance Program. Its objective is to promote the creation and development of scientific and innovation partnerships and to foster economic growth and social welfare in countries.
Funding will cover activities that fall into these 3 categories:
- People: improving the scientific and innovation skills (known as “capacity building”) of students and researchers, mobility schemes and transfer centers.
- Programs: research collaborations on development issues
- Transfer: partnerships developing innovative solutions on progress issues
